How does one pronounce the Swiss placename Weggis? Does the 'Wegg' part start with 'W' as in 'water' and rhyme with 'leg'? Or does the 'W' sound like a 'V' and the whole name pronounced like Vegas as in Las Vegas?

Are there any good websites that deal with placename pronunciation in general?
