Led by Deutsche Bahn, a number of European rail companies are planning to form an alliance similar to the airline code-sharing alliances such as OneWorld, Skyteam and Star Alliance.
The new group, provisionally called Railteam will include SNCF (France), SNCB (Belgium), NS (Netherlands), ÖBB (Austria), some Swiss rail companies and Eurostar.
The rail companies intend that forming an alliance will enable them to better compete against their airborne low cost rivals. _________________ Alan Lansdowne
